Cambodia, officially known as the Kingdom of Cambodia, is a country located in the southern part of the Indochina peninsula in mainland Southeast Asia. Known for its rich history, resilient culture, and stunning landscapes, it is a nation that has transitioned from a tumultuous past into a developing tourist and economic hub.
With a population of over 13 millions, Cambodia is the 69th most populous country in the world. The official religion is Theravada Buddhism, which is practiced by approximately 95% of the Cambodian population. The country’s minority groups include Vietnamese, Chinese, Chams, and other hill tribes. The capital and largest city is Phnom Penh, the political, economic, and cultural center of Cambodia. According to its Constitution, Cambodia is a constitutional monarchy. The present King, His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, acceded to the throne on 29 October 2004.
